Bond Referendum Information
The information provided on this web site is material related to the bond referendum scheduled for February 10, 2009. It is the responsibility of Faribault Public Schools to provide the community with the facts concerning the bond.
The school district has not been able to repair numerous buildings and grounds maintenance problems. The annual operating budget simply is not sufficient to replace roofs and parking lots as well as meet other facility needs. Like other school districts in Minnesota, the only option to fund these projects is to seek voter approval for a tax increase.
Information on the web site includes a sample ballot, the approval notice from the state, a list of the 60+ projects that need to be addressed soon, a tax-impact table, and a list of frequently asked questions. There is also information on how to contact district officials with questions or comments.
As a district employee, I cannot lobby people to vote yes or no on this issue. I can ask, however, that you review the plan and the supporting information. We need your help in making this decision for our schools and community.
Sincerely,
Bob Stepaniak
Superintendent
