Two new multimedia boards were installed this week in Faribault High School’s Nomeland Gymnasium.

The multi-purpose boards replace the scoreboards that were installed as part of the 1996-97 high school renovation. The larger Scorevision board measures 17 feet by 10 feet and the other is 10 by 7.

In addition to keeping track of game information, the all-digital, app-driven boards can display advertising, animations, video, graphics, and multimedia presentations. The boards are run on I-pads and several staff members were trained in on how to use the I-pads Tuesday.

“Whatever you can put on a screen of an I-pad or a computer you can put up there,” Faribault High School principal Jamie Bente said. “Teachers will be able to put lessons up there. In physical education classes students will be able to put information up there. The boards will be a huge educational asset.”

Total cost of the boards was $99,000, of which $60,000 was provided by the activities department through a community donation. The rest of the funding came from the Faribault Booster Club.
