About Our Program

Our Philosophy

The Faribault Area Learning Center strives to develop in each student the competencies needed to meet the challenges and demands of a productive adult life. The FALC believes that each student can learn these competencies if provided with an educational environment which is supportive, flexible, challenging, and cognizant of individual differences in aptitude and interest.

Through positive reinforcement, the FALC maintains realistic standards with regard to academic accomplishments and appropriate behavior. The FALC is committed to helping students meet the Minnesota Academic Standards.

The majority of the FALC student body is considered at-risk and experiences emotional and or social problems. The FALC’s program success depends upon an experienced professional staff which is aware of the need for on-going student evaluations, a sensitivity to individual student needs and a respectful student/teacher rapport. When appropriate, referrals to other community resources and agencies are made to assist and maximize each student’s educational experience at the FALC.

The Faribault Area Learning Center seeks to re-establish in each student, a fundamentally positive attitude toward learning as a life-long process.
