PSEO

Post-Secondary Education Options (PSEO) program is for highly motivated high school juniors and seniors to take courses, full or part-time, at a post-secondary institution for high school credit. PSEO is offered at a large number of Minnesota colleges. You have a choice of two-year and four-year schools, public and private. The program provides students with a greater variety of class offerings and challenging college level coursework. The tuition, fees, and required textbooks are at no cost to the students. Students need to work with their high school counselor to ensure courses taken at the college fulfill credit requirements for high school.

Students and parents must realize that the decision to participate in PSEO is an important one. The student will be expected to be a responsible, self-starting, independent learner. Success in the PSEO program is not guaranteed because a student has been successful in high school. College level classes can provide great opportunities for the right student. However, they can be a disaster for those who are not fully prepared for that caliber of coursework. Make an appointment with your counselor to get more information if you are interested.

The Counseling Department will be hosting a meeting for students interested in taking PSEO courses during the 2012-2013 school year. The meeting will be held in the Career Center during homeroom in early February. The exact date will be announced . CLEP testing information will also be shared (CLEP is another option available for students to earn college credit while attending high school.)
