Principal's Page

Hello, and welcome back to Roosevelt. As the principal of the school I want to wish all of you a fantastic school year. I want to especially welcome all the new families to our school. I am sure that you will be made to feel very welcome and comfortable here. We are proud of our school and of our students. Roosevelt elementary school provides a well balanced educational experience based on quality core and co-curricular opportunities, taught by highly qualified staff. 59% of our teachers have been teaching for more than 10 years and 61.5 % of them have their master’s degree. We are committed to continuous improvement in our schools and have taken a “What Ever It takes” stance in meeting the educational and social needs of our diverse population.

Professional development is a high priority in our school. Annually, our staff are taking part in educational opportunities to improve their practice. This summer our site leadership team took part in a nationally recognized Professional Learning Community training. This training helped all of us to focus on the individual needs of our students by working together in teams. This same team of teachers met for three days in August to look at student testing data. We analyzed all of our students results and wrote goals for the school year. The primary goal of this data retreat was to commit all our resources to meet district, state, and federal accountability programs.

Thanks to the bond issue passed by you, our constituents, our facilities are in the middle of many improvements. This money is also being used to institute a smart classroom initiative by improving technology in our classrooms. All elementary classrooms have LCD projectors and two fully functioning computer labs for student use.

Roosevelt has many other services for your children including; All day everyday Kindergarten, before and after school programs, Special Education and Social Work Services, Gifted and Talented programming, as well as Character Education and Bullying Prevention Initiatives. We deeply understand that you have entrusted us with your most precious gift; your children. We will work tirelessly to maintain that trust.

We look forward to seeing you very soon for your Parent/Teacher conference. Please be sure to attend the conference. We always strive for 100% attendance at our conferences. I am available at conference times if you have any specific questions or concerns. I would be happy to visit with you. Together we can help your child reach his/her fullest potential.
