Family Engagement

Mission Statement:

"FPS commits to effectively and faithfully communicate by listening to each and every one of our community members. Together, these valued voices made up of students, families and peers, will strive to ensure combined success. In our efforts to positively engage and support one another, we are dedicated to building and maintaining lasting relationships within our community, local businesses and the organizations that share our goals."

Our goal is to build strong school and family partnerships. As Family Literacy Specialists, we collaborate with staff and families to create relevant and meaningful literacy and engagement opportunities for early childhood through twelfth grade.

On our webpage, you will find a collection of resources that will help you navigate and support your child’s learning and development. We believe that family engagement is critical to student success. Research shows that strong school and family partnerships are associated with increased academic, attendance, and behavioral outcomes for students.

Elementary Virtual Read Alouds

In this section, you will find recordings of read alouds for elementary school-aged children. The read alouds will be accompanied by questions you can ask your child or activities you can complete together that promote reading comprehension, literacy skills, and creativity. We hope these resources will be helpful for you as you support your child's learning at home.

We want all families to receive a high quality and equitable education for their children regardless of their social, cultural or economic background. We strive to ensure that every family feels connected, valued, and welcome at Faribault Public Schools. Therefore, we are committed to offering all of our literacy and engagement opportunities in multiple languages to meet the linguistic and cultural diversity of our families.

Families play a role in their child’s education by communicating high expectations, monitoring student progress, supporting learning at home, guiding their child’s education, and advocating for their child.

Family Engagement Video Series

The Successful Strategies for Distance Learning series covers topics related to digital wellbeing, social and emotional wellbeing, strategies to learn successfully during distance learning, and strategies to boost literacy at home.
