Meet the Superintendent
Jamie Bente
Since 2013, Jamie Bente has dedicated his career to serving the students, families, and staff of Faribault Public Schools, ISD 656. He has been the district superintendent since July 2022 .
Bente began his educational journey as a teacher, coach, dean, and mentor before transitioning into administration. In 2013, he became assistant principal at Faribault High School, and three years later, he was appointed principal, serving from 2016 to 2022. During his tenure, he led initiatives such as the implementation of the school's 7-Period Day, the creation of Falcons Online Academy, and the establishment of the 9th Grade Academy, all aimed at adapting to the evolving needs of students. In recognition of his exceptional leadership, Bente was named Southeast Minnesota Principal of the Year in 2019.
Since becoming superintendent, Bente's leadership has led to significant accomplishments across multiple areas. Under his guidance, the district successfully renewed a critical operating levy, ensuring continued funding for essential programs and resources. He has also championed initiatives that have improved educational outcomes for students, focusing on enhancing academic performance, equity, and access to resources. Additionally, Bente led a comprehensive district reorganization aimed at optimizing the structure and efficiency of the district, which included strengthening support for both students and staff. His strategic vision has positioned Faribault Public Schools for continued growth and success, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes innovation and excellence in education.
Bente earned his master’s degree in educational leadership and administration, along with his principal’s and superintendent’s licenses, from St. Mary’s University. He also holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio.
